A RETIRED Hereford businessman is hopeful that a new warehouse he has bought to house military vehicles can open as an educational centre.

Colin Taylor, who owned Taylor Lane Timber Frame before retiring in May, has turned his attention to showcasing all kinds of war-time vehicles and other memorabilia.

They are currently in a unit in Centenary Park, Rotherwas.

"I got into the hobby about 10 years ago," said Mr Taylor, whose father was a military policeman.

"I just retired and I bought this nice new unit to put it all together.

"We do shows most weekends from May to September and set up different displays.

"We can have the ambulance with the medical stuff, or for the military police, we've got a checkpoint up.

"We also do the SAS, being in Hereford. We have a big display with palm trees to try and make it look as real as we can.

"We have a German prisoner in a cage, radios, all the weaponry and barbed wire.

"We normally do the military shows and I go into some schools with the kit on.

"This is basically my man-shed, but I would like it to be more of an educational centre.

"Everything was scattered all over the place so was a good opportunity to put it all together. We've got a group of eight people who go to different shows, and come from all over the country."

Mr Taylor collects most of the memorabilia from France.

"They made 600,000 of these Jeeps, so they're still around," he said.

"We're looking around all the time to build the collection.

"I just love the educational side, especially for the children."
