A campaign has been launched to save Eardisley’s Tram Inn.

The historic pub has been closed since 2020 and is currently on the market with agents Sidney Phillips with an asking price of £465,000.

The newly established ‘Save the Tram’ group has made an initial move towards reviving the lost watering hole by releasing a questionnaire to see whether locals would be interested in purchasing the pub and reopening it under community ownership.

If the questionnaire receives a positive response a public meeting will be arranged to discuss the next steps for the campaign.

A spokesperson for the Save the Tram group said: “A group of community members have gathered together with one purpose in mind, to breathe life into our local and see it open once more.

“We’ve spoken to many others in the village who we have realised feel as we do and would love to see the Tram open and successfully trading again, becoming the wonderful and cherished hub that it once was.”

Sidney Phillips said the pub had an annual turnover of £440,000 per annum before its closure.
