FIREFIGHTERS tackled a fire in Leominster last night (October 25). 

Four crews - two from Leominster plus one each from Kingsland and Tenbury Wells - as well as the water carrier from Leominster and the incident commander from Wyre Forest - were called to smoke issuing from a building in Southern Avenue shortly before 9.30pm.

The fire involved a woodchipper in a single-storey building. It was extinguished by four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using two hose reel and covering jets. 

The incident was marked as pending closure at just after 12.10am this morning (October 26). 

A thermal imaging camera was deployed and no heat spots were found upon reinspection at 2am.

No other emergency services were required and there were no casualties.
