A BIG-name comedy night is set for a Herefordshire pub.

Established stand-up artist, actor, presenter and writer Roger Monkhouse is set to appear alongside award-winning comedian Tony Burgess.

A spokesperson for the pub said: “With Ukraine, the cost-of-living crisis and dodgy concrete in our schools there really doesn't seem to be much to laugh at these days, does there?

“The good folk down at The Royal Oak, Much Marcle feel exactly the same and are doing their bit by holding a comedy night.

“London Comedy Store regular, Roger Monkhouse's trademark stage-prowling style and curious, inimitable manner have established him as one of the safest pair of hands on the comedy circuit.

“Supremely confident, with audience banter down to an art form, Roger is happy to improvise freely but has no shortage of first class material in his armoury. A master of observational comedy with routines that are universally and unfailingly hysterical.

“Tony Burgess has been making a living from this stand up comedy lark since his teens. An obsessive writer from an early age, ‘Great, well crafted gags’ (The Times) are the hallmarks of Tony’s scintillating sets.

“Whether it’s musings on the Madchester days of yore or surreal takes on contemporary family life, surrendering to the onslaught of laughter will be your only option! All gags and routines come in Tony’s trademark Mancunian jackdaw delivery.”

Rob Riley will be hosting the proceedings and tickets are priced at £15 each from the pub or online at www.royaloakmarcle.co.uk
