The winning tipple, a vintage cider named ‘Sur Pointe’, is the first beverage created by the company and was only introduced in April of this year. Despite its relative newness, the cider has already won multiple awards including a first prize award at the Three Counties Show International Cider and Perry competition.

On Point Cider was established by agronomist Matt Greep and project manager Mansell Whittall as a way of making use of an ancient cider orchard owned by the Whittall family.

Mr Greep said that he was sad that ‘beautiful biodiversity’ was being lost as orchards in the UK decline and so was excited by the environmental implications of operating a cider company. He also revealed plans for an upcoming still cider as well as a second batch of Sur Pointe.

On Point Cider is often seen at Hay Market and have plans to make their beverage available at pubs and restaurants across the county.
