After unsuccessful trials at Aston Villa and Cardiff City, Bowen, started his career as a scholar at Hereford United, having grown up near Leominster.
At the age of 17, Bowen broke into the Hereford United first team after impressing for the youth team that season, making his debut in a 2–0 loss against Barnet in March 2014.
He scored his first career goal in April 2014 in Hereford's 3–2 home victory over Alfreton Town.
After Hereford were expelled from the Football Conference in June 2014, Bowen signed for Premier League club Hull City in July before he joined West Ham United on a permanent transfer.
The Premier League club paid an initial £18 million for the forward, with up to s£7 million in potential add-ons.
While other Premier League footballers were in Qatar for the 2022 World Cup, Bowen missed out on a place in Gareth Southgate's side, despite a cap earlier in the year for the Nations League fixtures.
