HEREFORDSHIRE has many places for the homeless and in need to go over Christmas.

For anyone who is homeless or think they are going to be, Herefordshire Council can provide much needed support.

In the current uncertainty due to the cost-of-living crisis many people are worried about losing their homes, said a spokesperson for the council.

Housing rights can be provided and advice on any welfare support, including, housing benefits.

Its team can also negotiate with landlords or friends and family to help people stay in accommodation.

How cold does it have to be?

If the temperature is 0C or below Herefordshire Council will look to offer accommodation overnight.

The accommodation is likely to be a B&B and where possible the council will book it close to where people have their support network.

This provision will be reviewed daily, and a rough sleeper worker will work with a person to secure future housing.

Where to go in the winter?

This is being provided at New Zara House, Whitecross Road, Hereford from December 12 until middle of March 2023.

This provision is being managed by Vennture, a registered charity.

Individuals who are experiencing street homelessness this winter, should approach Vennture at the Merton Hotel in Commercial Road any weekday from 11am to 1pm, where further information will be available.
