The court heard from prosecutor Alina Iqbal that the 43-year-old had failed without reasonable excuse to provide a sample of blood when suspected of having driven a vehicle and when required to provide a specimen for a laboratory test in the course of an investigation into whether he had committed an offence in Stourport in Worcestershire on October 19.
Gilbert, who is of Withies Close in Withington, Herefordshire, was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 17 months and handed a three-month curfew with electronic tag.
He must also pay prosecution costs of £135 and a £114 victim surcharge order.
