A ROAD near a Herefordshire town is set to close for 18 days, with locals warned they might not have access to their homes all the time.

Herefordshire Council said Ross Road in Brampton Abbotts, near Ross-on-Wye, would be closed from Tuesday, November 29 for drainage works.

In a letter to people in the area, the council's roads contractor Balfour Beatty Living Places said it would be repairing blockages within the drainage system and repairing manhole covers until Thursday, December 22.

OTHER NEWS:

Works will be taking place under a full road closure between 8am and 5pm each weekday.

The signed diversion route will be via Ross Road, Gatsford Lane, A449, B4234 Ledbury Road, Brampton Street, Brampton Road, Ross Road and vice versa.

Balfour Beatty said it would do all it can to provide vehicular access to homes and businesses, although there could be times when works are directly outside somone's property and it can not do so safely.

"You can get help and guidance from the dedicated marshalls on site," the letter from Balfour Beatty's drainage team said.

"Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you."
