A HEREFORDSHIRE pub has been shortlisted for a prestigious award, with its chef already having a number of other gongs to his name.

Chef and patron Andy Link and his team at the Riverside Inn in Aymestry, north of Leominster, has been shortlisted for the 2022 Great British Pub Awards, the firm has said.

This latest accolade follows on from Mr Link winning pub chef of the year and West Midlands pub of the year at the National Pub and Bar Awards during the summer.

Mr Link said that after all the difficulties of recent times, such as lockdown and the "extraordinary" rise in the cost of living, it acknowledges the team's hard work and effort are very welcome, and gives everyone a morale boost.”

The Great British Pub Awards judges selected the Riverside as a finalist having been to visit the establishment earlier in the year.

The inn was short-listed from a record number of entries throughout the UK.

The winners will be announced at Escape to Freight Island, a reimagined former freight depot, in Manchester on October 4.

Mr Link is also keenly involved in the Slow Food Movement’s Ark of Taste/Forgotten Foods, and seeks to bring long-since overlooked ingredients back into the mainstream by reminding people of how fabulous such foods taste.

Visitors to the recent Ludlow Food Festival had the pleasure of tasting some of his creations.
