FIREFIGHTERS from Herefordshire have escued a baby bull became in mud today (Tuesday).

Animal rescue teams from Bromyard and Pershore, along with a fire crew from Bromsgrove and Malvern's off-road vehicles, were at the scene.

The bull had become submerged in a pool of mud that had been drying out due to no rain, but part of the damp area had some green grass that the bull was tempted by, said a spokesperson from Bromyard fire station.

He soon found himself stuck in the mud which was three quarters of the way up his body.

Richard and Sophie Aylett, and Sophie Bonnevie from Meadows Farm Vets, in Bromsgrove, took care of the bull's welfare during the rescue and gave advice to the crews.

The bull was approximately 900kg in weight so crews worked hard to place strops around his body when in place.

Ms Bonnevie injected him to sedate him, and eight minutes later he was ready to be removed from the area.

A local farmer had brought along his telehandler which helped the bull be pulled from the mud onto a large glide board so he could be slid across the ground to a secure pen that had been supplied by the vets.
