A HEREFORD shop owner has spoken of his excitement of a challenge as he opens a new tattoo parlour in the city.

Zac Morris has opened Maiz Tattoo Club in Union Street on the former site of the Crispy Cod fish and chip shop in Union Street.

He is a former employee of the popular tattoo parlour Skinzophrenic Tattoos in Aubrey Street, which recently closed after nine years, so the owner could concentrate on his new food business.

OTHER NEWS:

On leaving school at 16 with a passion for art and drawing, Mr Morris approached Skinzophrenic for a job and hasn't looked back since. He learnt from the ground up, from making the tea and shadowing others, to becoming an established artist in his own right.

He said: "I will be forever grateful to Skinzophrenic for giving me the opportunity to learn the job and for giving me my career. I am still good friends with the owner George and wish him all the success in the world with his new venture."

Mr Morris decided to take the plunge and go it alone during the Covid lockdown. He said that it gave him time to think and he felt he needed a change.

OTHER NEWS:

He said: "I felt like I needed something new. My girlfriend then said to me, "why don't you open your own studio?" I thought about it for a few months and then decided I needed to go head first into it."

"I'm excited to be my own boss and to learn all the other aspects to owning my own shop. It's a bit out of my comfort zone but I am really looking forward to the challenge."
