TWO restaurants in Hereford are taking over parking spaces in the city centre to allow them to put tables outside.

Under current coronavirus restrictions in England, restaurants can only serve food and drinks to customers sat outside.

But for the Green Dragon Hotel and The Broad Street Pizza Works, they will be able to put tables and chairs outside their buildings in Broad Street.

The temporary parking restriction will only be in place between 6pm and 4am Monday to Sundays, but on a Sunday it will from 4am until midnight.

The Green Dragon Hotel said: "We can't wait to welcome you back for a brand new dining experience from Saturday, April 17.

"We have 10 socially distanced tables ready and waiting for alfresco dining outside of the hotel on Broad Street for the very first time."

The hotel, which has recently been undergoing refurbishment after a takeover, said its regular opening times will be Friday and Saturday evenings from 6pm and Sunday from 10am, in line with the parking restrictions.

OTHER NEWS:

The Broad Street Pizza Works opened in Broad Street earlier this year, in the restaurant previously home to Ask Italian.

Herefordshire Council said vehicles would be stopped from parking at designated location on Broad Street, between West Street and King Street.

The notice said the restriction was required due to hospitality seating areas being places in the designated parking bays and the risk to members of the public.
