A CAFE in a Herefordshire town has closed after its owner tested positive for coronavirus.

Cafe on the Corner in Bromyard will now be closed until at least January 5 after two positive Covid-19 test results, owner Helen Pettitt said, who has started a 10-day self-isolation period.

The cafe, in the town square, will undergo a deep clean before reopening next month, but the owner said her priority is making sure her husband is well as he is clinically extremely vulnerable.

She reassured customers that if they needed to self-isolate, they should be contacted by NHS Test and Trace.

"It is with great sadness that we have to stay closed until at least January 5," she said on Sunday.

"We have unfortunately had two positive Covid tests, myself included. I tested negative on Wednesday but symptoms started on Christmas Eve and I tested positive yesterday (Saturday).

"Test and Trace has been in touch with me today. If anyone needs to be contacted then they will, of course, be in touch.

"We will, of course, be doing a deep clean of the cafe before we reopen."
