A MAN has been jailed for repeatedly abusing paramedics.

Derek Anthony entered a guilty plea when he appeared before magistrates in Kidderminster on December 8.

The court heard Anthony had called 999 and requested an ambulance on December 6.

But when paramedics arrived at his address in Aubrey Street, Hereford, Anthony, who did not need any medical attention, became aggressive and threatening.

The 51-year-old also admitted committing a further offence while subject to a six-month suspended sentence imposed by magistrates in Hereford on October 28.

MORE FROM THE COURTS:

Magistrates said the offence was serious due to Anthony's flagrant disregard for court orders and that it was aggravated by his record of previous offending.

His suspended sentence was activated, and he received a separate four-week prison sentence, to run consecutively to his original sentence.

Anthony must also pay a £128 victim surcharge.
