THE number of coronavirus patients being treated at Herefordshire's hospitals has risen, latest NHS figures show.

The data revealed the Wye Valley NHS Trust was caring for 26 coronavirus patients in hospital as of Tuesday (December 15), the same number as at the start of the month.

It also shows that the number of people in hospital with Covid-19 at 8am on December 15 had risen from 24 at the same time last week.

But during the week to December 15, the number of coronavirus patients peaked at 31 on December 14.

At the Wye Valley NHS Trust there were six people on mechanical ventilators, used for the most seriously ill patients, as of December 15.

That was the same number as at the same time a week before, and was up by five on the same time three weeks ago.

The figures also show that 19 new Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in Wye Valley NHS Trust in the week to December 13. This was up from 14 in the previous seven days.

No patients were admitted with Covid-19 from care homes, compared with five the previous week.
