A WOMAN has been handed a lengthier sentence after attacking police officers while subject to a suspended sentence.

Georgia Kate Swann entered a guilty plea when she appeared before magistrates in Hereford on November 25.

The court heard Swann had been drunk and disorderly in Hereford's Broad Street and assaulted two police officers acting in the course of their duty by beating in Hereford on September 20.

The 21-year-old also admitted assaulting a police officer acting in the course of their duty by beating and causing £300 worth of damage to their glasses in Cardiff on August 31, and using threatening or abusive words or behaviour, also in Cardiff, on October 11.

More court news:

The court heard the offences had been committed while Swann was subject to a suspended sentence of five months, suspended by 18 months, which was imposed by magistrates in Cardiff on August 6.

Magistrates said the offence was serious as it involved assaults on officers following a recently imposed suspended sentence for the same, but said it was not in the interests of justice to activate the sentence as Swann is due to undergo a rehabilitation programme.

Swann, of Highmore Street, Hereford, was sentenced to three months in jail, suspended by 21 months, consecutive to the original suspended sentence.

She was ordered to pay compensation of £50 to each of the three officers, costs of £135, and a £128 victim surcharge.
