A COTSWOLD village car show is set to celebrate its 15th year supporting local causes.

The Vintage and Classic Car Show will be held on June 10 in Churchill, near Chipping Norton.

The show - held on Churchill’s large green every two years - will for one day see the village transformed into a cavalcade of cars, music, food and drink.

Visitors in their thousands are expected, with the chance to get up close with hundreds of classic and vintage motors, soak up the relaxed village atmosphere and sample the stalls - all while raising funds for local causes.

The event will take place between noon and 5pm.

The first Churchill Car Show was held in 1988 as part of an event to raise funds for the restoration of the All Saints’ Church, which overlooks the village green.

It attracted a grand total of 38 cars, and proved so popular that it has returned biannually as a larger, separate event ever since.

The last show attracted more than 550 cars and 3,000 people, and to date the event has raised in excess of £230,000 for community projects and local charities.

David Chambers, head of the show’s organisation committee, said: “Now in its fifteenth year, the Churchill Vintage & Classic Car Show is more popular than ever - and we’re welcoming anyone and everyone to join in the fun on the 10th of June.

"As the show has grown over the years, so has its fundraising potential and to date we have raised more than £230,000.

"These proceeds now extend to charities outside of the village, whilst continuing to support local needs as well.

"This year the main beneficiaries will be The Heritage Centre in Churchill and the village’s fountain but we’ll also be donating to Oxfordshire causes like Chipping Norton Theatre, Chipping Norton Scouts and Helen & Douglas House.

"All our revenue comes from admission fees and vehicle entries, plus rental from stallholders and any other money spent by the public on the day.

"All those who help run and staff the show are volunteers and all profits are distributed amongst our nominated worthy causes.”

As well as showcasing classic cars, there will be a jazz band during the day, attractions and stalls for people to browse.

Breakfasts, lunches and teas are available and real ale can be enjoyed at the bar.

The church will play host to a themed floral display and the Heritage Centre Museum will also be open.

Entry to the car show is £7 for adults and free for children.
