A HUB of gardening and growing will be on offer at the Eastcott Eco Fest, which takes place on Sunday.

The event, at the Savernake Street Social Hall, runs from noon until 5pm and thanks to a grant from Galaxy Hot Chocolate Fund, the event is completely free to attend.

There will be an opportunity to meet Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, Incredible Edible, The Secret Garden, TWIGS, Swindon Climate Action Network, Swindon Safe and Warm, and Community Moves.

There will also be free bike checks and security marking by Dr Bike, organised by Community Moves.

Guided by local artists Lynette Thomas and Bea Menier, visitors will be able to create mosaics from broken china and other treasures.

And there will be free recycled handmade Morsbags to take away, created through a sewing session at the community centre.

"The Eco Fest will be a real selection of crafts, gardening, growing, and tips on sustainable living," said an event spokesman.

"There will also be an opportunity to think about how the green space next to the centre might be developed into a community garden.

"There will be lots to do whether you come on your own, with friends or with family. We’re very grateful to Galaxy Hot Chocolate Fund for the grant to organise such a fun and varied event."

There will also be live folk music to enjoy, an opportunity to bring and take at a special Sunday pop up Free Shop, and a chance to find out more about the Repair Café planned for October.
