A lively day on the green brought together golfers for a community celebration of sport and teamwork.

The Florida Scramble event was hosted by Phil Wilson, president of Ross Golf Club, during his second year in the role, at the Gorsley-based club.

The team event featured 24 teams of four in a shotgun start, with each team including at least one female player to ensure full club representation.

Players were treated to refreshments at the halfway point, with a "halfway house" set up by Mr Wilson’s wife, Jose, and family at the eighth and 16th holes.

A packed clubhouse gathered for the prize-giving, reflecting the club’s strong community spirit.

The winning team, with a net score of 55, was made up of Ruth Kirchmeier, Graham Jell, Steve Bartholomew, and Simon Buck.

Four teams tied for second place with net scores of 56, but on count-back, Ellie Teasdale, Phil Andrews, Bill Lawrence, and Steve Bennett claimed the runners-up spot.

Special mention was given to Dylan Stokes and the greenkeeping team, head professional Tim Hall and his pro shop assistants, administrator Amanda Marshall, general manager Hamish Mackay, and John Devine’s bar and catering staff.

Individual honours for nearest the pin on the par-three holes went to Wendy Ancrum, Rhian Garbett-Edwards, Nadia Stirling, Alex Harris, Ian Kitchiner, and Andy Petersen.
