A JUNIOR cyclist has clinched the Hereford & District Wheelers’ Cycling Club’s Hill Climb trophy.

Louis Ansfield, climbed Haugh Woods Hill in the time of six minutes one second to secure the trophy.

Ansfield attends Hereford Sixth Form College and has just turned 16 years of age.

The up-and-coming rider has shown great potential during the past season and has followed in his father’s footsteps into the sport.

In 2022, at the age of 14, he cycled over 1,000 miles in three weeks to raise money for St Michael’s Hospice.

As well as competing in local time trials, Ansfield has taken advantage of a number of sporting opportunities to develop his talents and gain experience by riding at the Welsh National Velodrome at Newport, taking up running and competing in Duathlon.

Having qualified for the European Under-20 squad in 2023 the youngster will be racing for GB at the European Age-Group Sprint Duathlon in 2024.

Hereford Wheelers Cycling Club welcomes new members of all ages and coaching is freely available.

The new Hereford Cycle Track will offer opportunities for cyclists; for both competitive and leisure riding. For further information contact: secretary@herefordwheelers.com
