HEREFORD'S 6-1 demolition of Cheltenham 2nd in Davis Wood League De Cymru and Marches 1 has taken the city side to the head of the table.
Previous leaders Wotton-under-Edge were held to a 2-2 draw by Cirencester, their first dropped points of the season, and Hereford took full advantage.
Colin Amos opened the scoring after 10 minutes and, although Cheltenham equalised, Stew Goodarzi restored the lead before half-time.
In the second period, Amos went on to complete a hat-trick and there were further Hereford goals from Danny Makaruk and Mark Allen.
In Conference North, a goal five minutes from time consigned Leominster to a 3-2 defeat at Lydney.
Man-of-the-match Harry Ellis tied the scores at the interval and struck to equalise again before Lydney's late winner.
"It's a really hard league this year," said Leominster's Josh Watkins. "All the teams are good which is a bit different to the two seasons before."
