ANOTHER Saturday and another high-profile winner for Herefordshire’s Champion Jockey Richard Johnson who took the honours at Cheltenham when winning the International Hurdle aboard The New One for Cotswolds based trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies.

Richard’s ripe run of form hopefully puts him in a great position to ride his first winner back at Hereford since our reopening, at our next fixture on Monday, Christmas Jumper Raceday.

Love them or loathe them, people seem to have an opinion on Christmas jumpers and the team have all been given their brief to enter into the spirit and dig theirs out of the wardrobe, myself included.

We hope racegoers will enter into the spirit too.

Our final fixture of this year is shaping up nicely with the Rusty Bridge restaurant sold out with over 200 covers and all eight boxes are also sold making it a very strong day for our hospitality.

A comment often found from market research within racing is that people do not know how much they are going to spend during a day at the races, and this can put people off attending.

For this reason, we created our popular Christmas Cracker package for Monday where for £26, racegoers know exactly what they are getting for their money - admission, a hot turkey roll, mince pie and glass of warm winter Pimms.

It offers a great saving and is only available in advance but it seems to have struck a chord with many people buying the package already.

Monday sees our fourth and final fixture this year and thanks go again to the people of Herefordshire who have embraced the racecourse’s reopening so enthusiastically and with such support.

For those that have visited this year, we hope you’ll come again in 2017 and for those that have yet to visit, please do give us a try.

Our 2017 season ticket (£160) offers great value and would make the perfect Christmas present for those that enjoy their racing which takes place 11 times next year.

The first 250 racegoers on Monday will enjoy a complimentary mince pie and Santa hat so arrive early and enjoy the festive spirit. Happy Christmas.

l A total of seven races will take place throughout the afternoon, with the first starting at 12.35pm. Gates open at 10.35am.
