ALEX Hedges picked up the player of the year award when Burghill & Tillington held their annual presentation dinner.

And the New Zealand all-rounder's huge contribution to the side was emphasised when he also collected the batsman of the year prize from Hereford United chairman and former Burghill cricketer David Keyte, who presented the awards.

Kingsley Morris collected the bowling award while Owen Morgan was top fielder.

The clubman award went to Les Gibson who also won the Worcestershire Cricket League's groundsman of the year prize.

Nick Osborne was named player of the year for the club's second string where Sam Johnson collected the batting award.

Will Treloar was top second-team bowler and Duane Evans won the fielding award.

Chris and Les Gibson were made life members At the club's annual meeting, Neil Box was re-elected as first-team captain with Steve de Souza placed in charge of the second team.

All committee members were re-elected with the exception of Jane Harper, who stood down as secretary to be replaced by Miles de Souza.

As well as Gibson's Worcestershire Cricket League award, the club also won the league 'Fair Play' award.
