The visitors had a good early chance to take the lead when a Redditch striker beat Mike Cheasley in the home goal but then hit his shot at covering defender Joe Mohan.
Shortly afterwards, however, a run down the right resulted in a low cross which was tapped home by the visiting striker.
Wellington missed a great chance to grab a point in the dying seconds when Louis Watkins squared the ball to Nick Bullock who, with only the goalkeeper to beat, cracked his shot straight at the Redditch man.
It has been a tough start to the season for Wellington who are left with just a single point from their opening seven matches.
