HEREFORD rower Jamie Coombes is ranked eighth in the world in his discipline after a fine performance at Under-23 World Rowing Championships in Trakai, Lithuania.
Coombes and his crew-mate, Zac Lee-Green (Agecroft RC) finished second in a competitive ‘B’ final in the lightweight men’s double sculls, losing out to a Hungarian crew by just 0.85 seconds. Hereford Rowing Club look set to benefit from the poor summer weather which has so far disrupted the sport.
The club are expecting a record number of entries to apply to enter the Hereford Regatta which takes place on August 4 and 5 when spectators will be welcome free of charge.
