VANDALS have struck at Leominster Town on the eve of the new season.

Raiders broke into the club’s Briarwood Stadium over the weekend, causing extensive damage to the entrance hut and storage facilities.

Chairman Eddie Clark fumed: “What makes me angry is the amount of hard voluntary graft that goes into preparing our ground by a small group of volunteers.

“This damage goes beyond what we have previously experienced.”

Training has resumed at Bridge Street on Tuesday nights from 7pm.

Hereford Times reporter Bill Tanner has stepped into the vice-chairman’s role, replacing Wally Wickham, who will be concentrating on fund-raising and sponsorship.

Bill Bloxsome was re-elected secretary and treasurer at the club’s annual meeting last week.

The club’s first-team preseason friendlies: July 7, Bromyard away; July 21 Perrywood home; July 28 Mercia away.
