BROCKHAMPTON will need to win their final two games, and hope one of the leading pair slip up, to realise their dreams of playing in the Premier Division of the Birmingham and District League next season.

When they lost by three wickets at Dorridge on Saturday their hopes were fading fast, but a winning draw against the top-side Old Hill on Monday kept them in the hunt.

Brockhampton made a disastrous start when they batted first against Dorridge at The Park.

Henry Langford (43), Chris Powell (35 no) and skipper Owen Price (35) revived their fortunes and they finished on 190-9 after their 55 overs.

Dorridge started well but Richie Parker (4-35) and Owen Price (2-40) caused a few alarms in the Dorridge dressing room. Hafeez (35 no), who had taken four wickets in the first innings, steered his side home with 14 balls to spare.

Brockhampton made another poor start to their innings at Old Hill, but once again the lower order dug them out of a hole. Jonny Walker (44) led the way as they recovered to post a total of 182-9.

Nitesh Patel dominated the Old Hill reply, but a rare long spell of bowling from Langford (4-27 off 15 overs) in tandem with Chris Boroughs (3- 50) helped restrict the Hill to 172-9.

In Division 3 Eastnor missed out on the chance of securing promotion when they suffered two defeats in a disappointing weekend.

After going down by 51 runs in a rain-affected game at Bablake Old Boys on Saturday they followed up with a 66- run home defeat to Coleshill 48 hours later.

Shahid (4-33) and Adeel (3-15) reduced the Old Boys to 72-8, but a lower order recovery stretched the score to 139 before losing their final wicket in the 53rd over.

The Eastnor innings was interrupted by rain after three overs.

Clive Chadhani (27) and Shahid (21) took the score past the winning draw target of 79 with nine of their 31 overs in hand. But Tom Cowley (6-11) dismissed both of them and proceeded to mop up the tail and they were all out for 88.

Shahid (6-20) reduced Coleshill to 60-6 on Monday, but the Warwickshire side struck back to finish on 190-8.

Eastnor lost wickets regularly and were bowled out for 124 in 47 overs.
