FORMER Herefordshire bowler Chris Woakes snapped up the wickets of Australian captain Ricky Ponting and batsman Michael Hussey last weekend.
Woakes took 2-75 and then hit 36 in the England Lions’ 103-run defeat to Australia in a tour match at Canterbury, Kent.
Woakes, who is now with Warwickshire, played one championship match for Herefordshire in 2006. He also played three one-day games for Herefordshire.
lA PETER Scudamore XI will meet a Herefordshire Select XI at Eastnor Cricket Club on Sunday, August 30 in a cricket match in aid of the Injured Jockeys' Fund. The 25 overs-a-side match will commence at 2.30pm.
This will be the third meeting of the two sides, with honours even at the moment.
