HEREFORD will be hoping that history repeats itself on Saturday, writes IAN MORGAN.

The Wyesiders booked their place in last season’s play-off match with a final-day league win against Bromsgrove.

In-form Hereford play Bromsgrove again on the last day of the Midlands 2 West campaign and have home advantage on this occasion.

Hereford are fighting it out with Dudley Kingswinford for the second spot, while Bromsgrove have clinched the title.

Hereford and Dudley have both collected 31 league points.

But the Wyesiders have a superior points-difference, to the tune of 40 points, over Dudley, who host Stratford in their final match.

Hereford’s head of coaching, John Watkins, said: “We have to concentrate on beating Bromsgrove and that will not be easy. We have to match them up front.

“If we play well, we will win the game. We know everything is not entirely in our own hands, but we will be very disappointed if we don’t get through.”

Hereford have won their last seven matches, including a 26-17 success at Stratford in their last outing “We have every confidence that Stratford will not capitulate at Dudley,” said Watkins.

“I could see Stratford perhaps conceding 30 to 35 points but scoring 15 points themselves.”

Bromsgrove have lost only twice this season in the league and recorded a 21-3 home win over Hereford in November.

If Hereford manage to retain second spot, they could have home advantage in the divisional play-off match against Midlands 2 East runners-up Scunthorpe.

Scunthorpe have collected 32 league points in their section and face a tough final match.

They travel to champions Ampthill, who have lost once in the league, on Saturday.
