GEOFF Foster has retained the Seniors’ Club Championship title at Belmont GC.

Foster took the prize for the second successive year with a return of 71-11-60.

John Alexander was second with 74-11-63, while Tommy Boswell was third after carding 78-13-65.

Alexander also carried off the best nett award.

Harvey Hancock clinched the club’s Stableford Cup after an excellent return of 43 points.

Will Lloyd was the runner-up in the competition with 39 points, while Derrick Hancock was third with 37 points.

Belmont’s A team of Des Samuel, Maurice Embrey, Paul Gosling and R Harrison won the Seniors’ Am-Am competition.

The foursome were the clear winners of the event after carding a total of 127 points.

Redditch’s A team of JD Smith, B Wilson, N Court and A Evans took the runners-up spot with 119 points.

A Ross B team of G Morgan, D Hale, B Day and G Thomas were third with 118 points.

q Mike Privett fired 78-11-67 to take first place in a September Strokeplay competition at Leominster GC.

Kevin Room (79-12-67) was second on a countback from third-placed Kevin Green (76-9-67).

Ben Clarke, Matt Cooke, Dan Davies and Sam Morris totalled 154 points to win the club’s Yellowball event.

Mike and Chris Privett, Greg Bridges and Mark Pearson were second with 150 points, and Kevin and Phil Green, Joss Ingram and Paul Creasey were third with 146 points.

Peter Sandall won the seniors’ Ancients Cup with a return of 85-17-68.

Terry Webb was the runner-up with 79-8¼-70 ¾.

Adam Phillips carried off the Summer Singles Handicap Knockout after beating Gerald Cook 3&2 in the final.

Phillips also won the Summer Singles Scratch Knockout after a 2&1 success against Simon Morgan.

Sam Morris and Matt Cooke triumphed in the Summer Pairs Knockout after a 3-2 victory over Adrian and Sam Griffiths.

Leominster lost by two games to one and finished six holes to four down against visiting Lilleshall Hall in the Ken Smith Trophy.

q Graham Davies won the Herefordshire Seniors’ Stableford competition on a countback from Tim Townsend.

Davies and Townsend both fired 39 points, while Robert Archer was third with a 38-point return.

Herefordshire Seniors continued their excellent form with a five matches to one win home over Tewkesbury Park. They also secured a 4-4 draw at Burghill.

q Sapey’s D and G Price carded 42 points to win the best nett prize in their club’s Seniors’ Mixed Open Greensomes Stableford.

G Page-Jones and D Leadbetter, also from Sapey, took second place on a countback after returning 36 points.

D and J Carr, from Arscott, who also scored 36 points, were third.

Sapey’s D Leadbetter had a memorable day, firing a hole-in-one on the 17th.

Halesowen’s A and I Dodd picked up the best gross award with 20 points.

q Keith Douglas has captured the Seniors’ Summer League title at Kington GC.

Douglas won the overall event after taking second place in Division 1 in the final round.

Douglas ended the competition with an overall points tally of 230, while Ron Davies was second with 222 points.

In the last round, John H Williams won Division 1 with a splendid return of 43 points.

Douglas was second with 42 points, while Paul England was third with 39 points.

Roger Bounds triumphed in Division 2 with 38 points from second-placed Tony Stokes (37 points).

Ken Canton finished third in the section after carding 35 points.

The competition took into account the best six cards from the rounds played.

Final standings: 1 Keith Douglas (230 points), 2 Ron Davies (222 points), 3 Terry Inskip (219 points).

q Bill Bonham and Les Herbert struck 68 points to carry off the Golden Oldies pairs’ title at Burghill Valley GC.

John Oldman and Brian Vaughan secured second place with 66 points.

Brian Barnard and Brian Blower were third on a countback after firing 59 points.

Dave Cook took top honours with an excellent 41-point haul in the September Stableford.

q Ross-on-Wye GC’s Senior Scratch Team have reached the semi-finals of the Gloucestershire County Seniors’ Foursomes Match Play competition.

The Ross team, captained by Brian Macnamara, sealed their place in the last four with a two points to one quarter-final success over visiting Minchinhampton GC.

Despite a valiant fight-back, the first Ross pair of Patrick Gamble and Doug Duncanson lost their match on the final hole.

The Ross second pair of Macnamara and Malcolm Sosna finished with a fine 5-3 win to level the game.

But the final Ross pair of Gwynne Morgan and Dave Sidnall looked to be sliding towards defeat when they were three holes down after 12 holes.

Morgan and Sidnall, however, staged a fantastic recovery to win five successive holes, including a demanding 17th hole, to seal a remarkable 2-1 victory.

Nick Swan and Malcolm Thornton carried off the Maclean Trophy at the club’s annual Championship Finals and Presentation Day.

Doug David pipped Tim Rigden on the 21st hole to win the Trevor Lane Cup after an epic battle.

Ross Seniors chalked up a comfortable six points to two win at St Pierre GC and achieved a five points to two success at home to Droitwich Spa GC.

q A lack of clubs did not stop Charlie Towers from winning the Kingstone High School Golf Society’s Three-Club Challenge at Brampton GC.

Towers pipped Andy Thomson on a countback, with a group of other players just one-shot back.

Stewart Thomson, Luke Jones and Rory James were the other divisional winners in the society’s second event of the autumn.
