BROCKHAMPTON saw an opening stand of 83 go to waste as the rain resulted in their home tie against Stourport-on-Severn being abandoned.
Players started the Worcestershire County League Premier Division match knowing it was unlikely to finish if the forecasted rain hit.
Openers Ian Bullock and Angus McIntyre got to work hitting 26 and 36 runs respectively before both openers fell to the bowling of Mohammed Shoaib Iqbal.
Home skipper Sam Johnston and O’Shea Durack had just got to the crease when the heavens opened and Brock walked away with eight points for their efforts from 24.5 overs, and the game was abandoned.
The game followed mixed fortunes for Brockhampton in their opening two games.
The Herefordshire side started with an impressive nine-wicket victory at Redditch, after restricting their Worcestershire hosts to 101.
Greg Leighton did the damage with the ball taking 4-14 and Sam Harn 2-23 as they gave their batters a gift of a target.
Bullock hit an unbeaten 25, while Leighton scored 35 and McIntyre 19 in the successful chase.
However, the following week Brockhampton suffered a 39-run defeat at The Parks against Netherton after failing to reach a target of 248.
Netherton added runs throughout their innings as Brock bowling figures were Leighton (3-47), Durack (3-25) and Tom Skerrett (3-50).
In reply Brock struggled for runs from their openers with only middle-order Durack top scoring on 88 and skipper Johnston contributed with 41.
Meanwhile, in the Worcestershire County League Division 3, Bartestree & Lugwardine saw their perfect start to the season come to an abrupt end.
Bartestree had won their opening two matches against Old Elizbethans and Lye seconds respectively.
This weekend the Herefordshire side welcomed Rushwick to the Playing Fields looking to continue their run.
However, Rushwick won the toss and with rain forecasted for the afternoon they were keen to get a good start.
However, bowler Marcus Ashcroft had other ideas and took opener Jack Yendall with just one run on the board.
Rushwick responded as top order batters Nathan Davies (25), Alfie Littlewood (43) and Jamie Oliver (75) helped them to 165-5, before finishing on 243.
Ashcroft did some damage to the visitors’ innings with five wickets from 8.4 overs of bowling.
Bartestree had a tough total to target and a limited amount of time with the forecasted rain coming.
George Godsall and Tom O’Connor both top scored on 26 as the home batters to build substantial totals.
Bartestree were on 101-7 from 22 overs and 89 runs behind their revised target of 191 when the rain arrived.
