AN INJURY-TIME equaliser broke Westfields hearts as they were held to a 1-1 draw against lowly Cribbs from Bristol in a Hellenic League Premier Division game.

Danny Moon’s side came into the game full of expectations on the back of two impressive results, but after a bright opening 20 minutes Fields were unable to break down a hard-working Cribbs team who grew in confidence as the game progressed.

Westfields took an early lead through Zac Powell and then should have gone further ahead when on-loan striker Luke Postle rounded the Cribbs keeper but shot wide from a tight angle.

Earlier the visitors had hit the home crossbar and Shay Sterry had saved well on a couple of occasions to keep his side ahead at the break.

In the second half Fields pushed for a second goal as Aidan Clark had a shot blocked then Cam Davies had an acrobatic effort brilliantly saved by the Cribbs keeper.

The visitors began to claw their way back in the game and Sterry produced a full-length save and then Davies headed off the goal-line as Cribbs came in search of a late equaliser.

The Cribbs equaliser came with the last kick of the game courtesy of Cain Scott’s free kick which took a wicked deflection.

The draw came after Moon’s side gained an impressive 4-3 win against unbeaten Slimbridge in midweek.

Westfields and took a seventh minute lead when on-loan winger Postle from Halesowen Town was in the six-yard box to tuck away a Bailey Fuller cross.

Ten minutes later Westfields doubled the score when Clark had a shot cleared and the ball fell invitingly to Zac Powell who slotted home, before the hosts pulled a goal back.

Early in the second half Fuller chased a through ball and cooly beat the advancing home keeper to put Westfields 3-1 ahead in the 55th minute.

Westfields striker Clark was having a fine game and he increased the visitors lead when he cut inside and beat the goalkeeper with a low drive to make it 4-1 with 75 minutes on the clock.

Fields were reduced to 10 men when skipper Harrison Iddles was sent off for a second yellow card.

With Westfields fully stretched unbeaten Slimbridge came back into the game scoring twice and forcing Jack Oxenham into a point-blank save to deny the Swans a late equaliser.
