ROSS JUNIORS Women scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner to defeat county rivals Hereford Pegasus Ladies 3-2 in the first qualifying round of the Adobe Women's FA Cup at the KGD Stadium.

The hosts broke the deadlock when Cleo Tomkinson forced the ball over the line from Ella Bowen's sixth minute corner.

Ross Juniors saw the ball scrambled off the line from another corner 19 minutes later before Bowen went close from a 25 yard free-kick at the opposite end of the pitch in the 40th minute.

The visitors levelled the scores in the penultimate minute of the first-half when the referee deemed that Sarah Bishop had caught Darcy Baker in the penalty area and the spot-kick was duly converted by Jess Smith.

Bishop went close with a 20-yard drive four minutes after the break before Ellie Davies put Pegasus ahead when she converted from another Bowen corner in the 51st minute.

The lead only lasted six minutes as the visitors broke quickly from their own half before Smith eventually rounded home custodian Elise Granger to net from a tight angle to draw the two teams level again.

Pegasus substitute Lily White went close with a low drive from the edge of the penalty area in the 79th minute as the hosts attempted to avoid a cup upset.

It appeared the tie was heading towards a penalty shoot-out until substitute Millie Malsom headed home at the far post, after a 92nd minute corner had only been partially cleared by the Pegasus defence, to secure a first ever victory for Ross Juniors in the competition and to book their spot in the next round.
