AHEAD of the new campaign Hereford FC have announced the season-long loan deal of attacking midfielder Sam Osbourne from fellow National League North side Alfreton.
The 26-year-old started his career at Notts County and has gone on to play for Leamington, AFC Fylde (who he joined for an undisclosed fee), Buxton and Boston, before joining Alfreton in February this year.
Osbourne has made 114 appearances in the National League North, scoring 30 goals. He has also scored 4 goals in 31 National League appearances.
Talking to the club’s website Hereford boss Paul Caddis said: “Sam is a player I’ve tracked for quite some time if truth be told, but with other opportunities and work commitments it wasn’t quite possible to get him over the line.
“He will bring us creativity at the top end of the pitch and he is a player who will work hard, both in and out of possession, to be a positive influence for us.
“I’m really pleased to have finally got the deal over the line and would like to thank Billy Heath and everyone at Alfreton for making it a very straightforward process in the end.
“I’d also like to thank our brilliant supporters for their Squad Builder contributions because it’s a matter of fact that this generosity, along with that of the Founding Shareholders, has allowed this deal to happen, so thank you to everyone who has played their part.”
Osbourne was let go from Alfreton despite the National League North side suffering a host of injuries.
The midfielder went straight into Hereford’s defeat at Chippenham Town in their final friendly of the season.
Osbourne will be hoping for a first league start when Hereford travel to Spennymoor for their opening league fixture on Saturday.
