HEREFORD Pegasus and third placed Sporting Club Inkberrow could not be separated in their Hellenic League Premier Division clash on Monday night as they played out a goalless draw under the KGD Stadium floodlights.
Coming into the game the Worcestershire visitors, not many years ago promoted from the Herefordshire County League, had won seven of their 12 league fixtures.
Pegasus were without a weekend fixture so were left smarting from a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Hartpury University six days earlier.
It was the hosts who came close to breaking the deadlock in the 16th minute when Jordan Williamson cut inside from out on the left flank but his ensuing effort flew narrowly wide of the far post.
Pegasus captain Sam Rawlings was next to test the visitors goal, bur saw his header saved from a corner two minutes later.
Player of the match Williamson then latched onto a long ball played forward in the 28th minute but his dipping half volley went narrowly the wrong side of the far post.
Pegasus’ top goal scorer so far this season Carlos Moreira then went close with a 65th minute header.
Williamson also continued to test the visitors goal in the second half surging towards goal eight minutes later but his low drive was saved by the visiting custodian.
However, neither side was able to find the crucial goal that would have secured all three points and had to be content with a share of the spoils as both clubs looked to maintain their early season promotion hopes.
Pegasus are back in action at home on Friday night when they entertain Mangotsfield United at Old School Lane.
