HEREFORD FC Women lifted the Zzoomm Herefordshire FA Women's County Cup for the first time following a 5-1 victory over Ross Juniors Women at an Edgar Street cup final.

The Bullettes reached the final after seeing off Hereford Pegasus Ladies in the final round.

Hereford broke the deadlock when an opening minute corner was eventually forced over the line by Sheree Smith.

The lead was doubled when defender Katy Huntbach converted at the near post from a 20th minute corner.

The Edgar Street side were in control on their home turf and Smith raced on to a well-timed through ball 12 minutes later before maintaining her composure to slide past Imogen Stephen in the Ross Juniors goal for her second goal of the final.

Hereford claimed a fourth goal in first-half stoppage time when a corner was only partially cleared and player of the match Sian Bull was on hand to covert from a cross returned into the penalty area.

Ross Juniors reduced the deficit when Eva Flitney's 59th minute free-kick on the left edge of the penalty area found the far corner of Hannah Pritchard’s goal despite the best efforts of the Bullettes' custodian.

However, Hereford regained their four-goal buffer within three minutes of the restart when Smith broke down the right flank and her low cross was converted from close range by a Ross defender.

The match ended with a nasty injury to the Ross Juniors custodian that resulted in Stephen having to be carried off the pitch on a stretcher before Hereford skipper Bull collected the county cup following the final whistle.
