HEREFORD Pegasus snatched defeat from the jaws of victory as Cinderford Town struck three quick goals to win their Hellenic Premier Division clash 3-2.

The visitors had an early opportunity in the fourth minute when Ben Vine picked out Tom Stokes but his shot was parried by Matt Gwynne in the Pegasus goal.

The hosts responded as Mike Burgess headed over the crossbar before Kyle Panniers saw his deflected 25-yard drive saved by Alex Avenell.

Cinderford Town went close to breaking the deadlock in the 10th minute when Kerry Morgan fired narrowly wide of the target after latching on to a Stokes through ball.

At the opposite end Cawley Cox went on a driving run into the Foresters' penalty area but saw his effort on goal turned behind for a corner by Avenell.

The hosts opened the scoring four minutes before half-time when Cox pounced on a mistake in the visitors’ defence before rounding Avenell and turning the ball into the net.

Pegasus doubled their lead three minutes after the break when Panniers picked out Carlos Moreira, who saw his half-volleyed effort saved, and the loose ball was steered home by Jamie Sauntson for his first goal for the club.

It appeared that the home team were well placed to complete a league double over Cinderford Town but the Foresters turned the match around with three goals within the space of four minutes.

Andy Lewis netted at the near post from a 72nd minute corner before Blaine Waugh put the visitors on level terms within 60 seconds of the restart after forcing the ball home from close range.

The Causeway club netted a 76th minute winner when Lewis converted a 76th minute penalty after Matt James was shown a red card in the incident that led to the spot-kick being awarded.
