WESTFIELDS were denied an eighth league victory of the season as Brimscombe and Thrupp left it until the last minute to rescue a 3-3 draw.

After beating Wantage the previous week Scott Russell’s side were in a buoyant mood coming into the game and Bradley Phillips put hosts ahead in the 12th minute.

Archie Muirhead should have doubled the hosts’ lead but headed over the bar from six yards out.
Brimscombe equalised on the stroke of half-time with a 25-yard strike from Josh Jones as the sides went into the break at 1-1.

After the Russell’s side restored their lead as Muirhead’s ball was met by Sam Griffiths at the far post with 54 minutes played.

Seven minutes later Fields looked out of sight when leading scorer Ollie Barnes riffled home a cracker from the edge of the box to put Westfields 3-1 ahead.

However, Brimscombe came storming back and Liam Harper scored a second visitors goal to set up a grandstand finish.

As the referee played eight minutes additional time the equaliser came in the dying moments when Jack Hughes scored a dramatic equaliser for the visitors to secure a point from a 3-3 draw.

Hereford Pegasus slipped outside the top five positions in the Hellenic Premier at Christmas following a 2-1 defeat at home to Roman Glass St George.

The visitors, who are also chasing a play-off position, took a 17th minute lead courtesy of Rhys Sarson.

However, two minutes later Pegasus hit back with Jordan Williamson’s cross come shot looping into the net.

Roman Glass St George’s winning goal came courtesy of a 55th minute penalty calmly dispatched by Lewis Leigh-Gilchrist.

Hereford Lads Club were denied a well earned point by a penalty in the 10th minute of injury time which gave Mangotsfield United a 2-1 victory.

Mason Godsall had cancelled out a first half opener only for the Widemarsh Common side to be denied at the death.
