HEREFORD full-back Aaron Skinner inspired a second half fightback as his side came from behind against Redbridge to earn a second consecutive 4-1 win and a place in the FA Trophy third round.

The Isthmian League side lead at the break courtesy of James Barlow before Skinner was introduced at half-time and sparked a response scoring himself along with Ethan Freemantle, Koby Arthur and Tom Pugh.

The Bulls, who made nine changes from their weekend win against Banbury, made a slow start and a threatening Redbridge free-kick in the 24th minute found defender Joseph Elliot at the back post whose header flew wide of the goalmouth.

Paul Caddis’ side came close to taking the lead after 38 minutes when Arthur’s ball into the box was sliced into the air by Elliot, threatening to loop in before landing safely out of play.

It was the away side who took the lead in the 40th minute when Barlow latched onto a long ball forward from Bradley Bennett before prodding it past an onrushing Shay Sterry.

After a stern half-time team talk Hereford returned for the second half with renewed energy and equalised in the 51st minute when Jordan Cranston’s cross found Freemantle in the six yard box to tap in on the line.

Five minutes later the home side took the lead when the ball fell to half-time substitute Skinner who slotted the ball into the bottom corner of the net from 18 yards out.

The Bulls added a third when Jack Tolley flashed a ball across the face of goal with Arthur latching on to it at the back post before tapping in to make it 3-1 in the 65th minute.

Redbridge nearly found a way back into the game when Barlow’s effort inside the box was denied by a fine one-handed save from teenager Sterry before the offside flag was raised.

Hereford wrapped the game up in the 86th minute when Arwyn Walby nearly latched onto Freemantle’s cross before Tom Pugh steamed in to slot in the Bulls’ fourth goal.
