HEREFORD FC have signed teenage full-back Sean Lawton on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 19-year-old arrives from Crewe Alexander, where he has been part of their youth set-up since the age of 10. He made his debut for Crewe away at Sunderland last year.

Earlier this season Lawton gained non-league experienced with Nantwich Town making 24 appearances.

“He is a left sided defender who is able to play at full-back or wing-back,” said Hereford’s caretaker manager Yan Klukowski to the club's website.

“We thank Crewe for allowing him to come here, he’s a talented lad who has benefitted from a spell out on loan during the first half of the season, where he was able to get plenty of competitive action under his belt.”

This comes after Thierry Latty-Fairweather was recalled from his loan with Hereford after the young full-back was offered the opportunity to play with the first team of the League One side.

“Both myself and Thierry had a phone call on Wednesday that there was a potential opportunity within Burton’s first team,” added Klukowski.

“Burton have acted really well in notifying us as soon as possible. We wish Thierry all the best and hope he can make an impact to secure his future at Burton next season. He’s got fantastic potential, he has been outstanding since he’s returned, so we are naturally disappointed to lose a player of his quality.”
