Atherstone 2 Westfields 0 WESTFIELDS failed to halt the title charge of the table-toppers in the Polymac Services Midland Alliance at Sheepy Road.
The Adders were gifted a fourth-minute lead when the visiting defence failed to deal with a free kick and Nathan Jones tapped the ball past Jon Pugh.
Westfields should have levelled through Matt Aubrey but he headed Jamie Edwards' corner wide from close-range.
The visitors worked hard in defence and midfield duo Ashley Day and Paul Allam created chances.
However, a 20-yard drive from Lee Greenaway forced a flying save from Pugh.
Aubrey saw a second-half shot tipped over the bar before Atherstone wrapped up the win on the hour.
Jai Stanley's speculative shot took a wicked deflection off a Westfields defender and flew into the net.
Westfields used all three substitutes to try to get back into the match but Atherstone defended well and held on for a comfortable success.

A SECOND-half volley from Ashley Day helped Westfields to a Midland Alliance point at allpay.park in midweek.
Stratford opened the scoring when Adam Jones dived full-length to parry a drive only for Jerome Grandison to tap in the rebound.
Simon Gwilliam had a powerful strike brilliantly saved by the visiting goalkeeper before Westfields equalised in the 55th minute.
Gwilliam delivered a pin-point cross and Day volleyed in from 10 yards.
Westfields almost snatched the lead when Jamie Cuss had a fierce header cleared off the line and then Scott Jackson's free-kick was superbly saved.
