A YOUNG Hereford golfer with big aspirations has taken a tournament victory at the first attempt.

Chloe Ferneyhough is in her first year playing competition golf and won the Herefordshire and Shropshire Pee Wee event for under-10 girls.

The event was played over five courses throughout summer holidays in Bridgnorth, Arscott, The Grove GC, Shifnal and Oswestry.

Despite being a year younger than most of her competitors Ferneyhough came out with the victory.

Ferneyhough started playing golf at the age of five practising at the Hereford Golf Club and is now showing her talent on the course.

She is hoping to qualify for the World Junior Championships in San Diego next year. She will be aiming to finish in the top four at a qualifying competition for the world championships taking place in Cambridge this month.
