AJAX Trees Down and Tuffley Rovers Legends came away victorious as Herefordshire FA and Avara Foods held their successful Thank You Trophy which raised over £1,500 for a range of charities.

The inaugural Thank You Trophy was a huge success, with over 250 male and female players playing at the HFA SSAFA County Ground.

Tuffley Rovers Legends donated their winning fees to Heart Link Glenfield and Prostate Cancer UK, with Ajax Trees Down donating their fees to Heart Link Glenfield.

After a successful first event there are future plans for the Thank You Trophy, which should become a prominent pre-season festival to look forward to and an opportunity to raise much-needed funds and thank key workers on an annual basis.

The HFA would like to thank Avara Foods for their support, which ensured the maximum amount of money possible was able to be raised for the charities.

The HFA would also like to thank the HFA Super 6 League for operating the tournament. Spaces are currently available for anyone interested in regular competitive 6-a-side football on a Monday, Thursday or Sunday at the Hereford Academy. For further details please email super6s@herefordshirefa.com

Referees are currently needed to help local football thrive and provide more opportunities for aspiring footballers.

Refereeing can be challenging but also very rewarding. There are support mechanisms in place at the HFA, opportunities to develop and a clear pathway to higher levels of the game.

Learners must live in Herefordshire and be aged 14 or over to become a referee. There is an online course to complete before attending an FA Referee Course in person.

The first course available takes place at the Herefordshire FA base on Widemarsh Common on September 1 (6.30pm to 9.30pm) and September 4 (10am to 6pm)

A second course is available also at the Herefordshire FA home on Widemarsh Common on October 25 (10am to 1pm) and October 28 (10am to 6pm).

Once you have completed the course with Herefordshire FA, they guarantee to provide you with a mentor who will watch some of your matches and provide you with support.

Details of how to become a referee, as well as our upcoming courses, can be found by emailing referees@herefordshirefa.com
