Rushall Olympic 0

Hereford FC 0

THE width of a post denied Hereford victory in their final pre-season friendly as they played out a 0-0 draw at Rushall Olympic.

Miles Storey broke through on goal with eight minutes remaining beating the goalkeeper but seeing his effort from a tight angle rattle the post.

This was after summer signing goalkeeper Brad Wade kept Hereford level by saving Alex Moore’s penalty kick after a Jared Hodgkiss handball.

Hereford were in a buoyant mood after beating Alvechurch 4-1 in midweek and played another Southern League Premier play-off side in the form of Rushall Olympic on their 3G surface.

The Bulls got off to a good start and Luke Haines rose well to meet Harry Pinchard's corner but glanced his header wide.

Fresh from his midweek man of the match display Ryan McLean found Storey out wide who pulled it back to his fellow forward at the front post but the effort was saved by goalkeeper Jake Weaver.

Storey was next to threaten the Rushall goal running through on goal but Weaver was straight out and made a one-on-one save.

Rushall remained a threat and caught the Bulls on a break but Moore sent his effort wide of Wade's goal.

In a frantic opening 15 minutes a Pinchard corner found Barnett at the front post, but his headed effort was blocked.

Straight up the other end Olympic came forward again with Zak Lilly blocking Sam Mantom's first effort before goalkeeper Wade was forced to save down low from Tyler Lyttle.

Rushall were then awarded a 53rd minute penalty when a long throw-in was fired into the box and hit the hand of Jared Hodgkiss.

Moore stepped up for the resulting penalty which was saved by the low hand of Wade.

Yan Klukowski made his first appearance of pre-season and made an immediate impact wining the ball out wide and crossing for Storey whose header was tipped away by goalkeeper Weaver and Justice Campbell failed to steer home the rebound.

And then with eight minutes remaining Pinchard released Storey who rounded the goalkeeper but from a very tight angle rattled the post.
