A LEOMINSTER bowler has took to the green for his 500th game of county bowls.

David Holloway of Leominster Bowling Club stepped out onto the green at Eastnor to play his 500th game for Herefordshire recently. 

Holloway's bowling career started some 34 years ago in 1988. 

He first started playing at Bromyard Bowls Club and then moved onto Leominster Bowls Club where he still plays today. 

During those 34 years Holloway has held a presidential position on 34 separate occasions. 

He has held the role of: Bowls Herefordshire president five times; Midland County president; Three counties president; Leominster Indoor County Association/
He was also a former president at the Leominster Indoor Bowling Club and the Barbarians Association. 

After the match Holloway was presented with his 500th match blazer badge by current president Alex Lowe of Kington Bowling Club along with a commemorative crystal bowl to mark the occasion. 

Marking his 500th game for the county Holloway gave a short speech. 

He thanked the Herefordshire Bowling Association and said that he had made many friends from around the bowling community over the last 34 years.

Holloway added that he was not going to stop playing just yet and that he hoped to be bowling for a long time to come.
