HEREFORD Couriers held the final round of their five-kilometre series last week.

Taking place around the Bobblestock area of Hereford with the series consisting of three rounds.

The men's race series was won by Western Tempo Running Club runner Charlie Jones with Alastair Cambell in second Eliot Taylor finishing in third.

In the women's race it was Forest of Dean Athletic Club runner Samantha Harris who took overall series first place followed by Western Tempo's Rachel Underhill and a third place finish for Croft Ambrey Running Club runner Charlotte Broadhurst.

The team awards were picked up by the Hereford Couriers for the men and the Croft Ambrey ladies.

In the junior age categories Fred Tyler (Hereford & County Athletics Club) won the under-13 age group while Henry White (Halo Sport Foundation) was best under-15 boy and also sixth male overall.

In the women's veterans categories local winners included Joanna Eddy (Hereford Couriers Running Club) in the 45 age group and Lorna Shaw (Wye Valley Runners) in the 60-year-old age group.

The men's veteran overall award category winners included: Kristan McKenna aged 40; Richie Richards (Hereford Couriers) 55 age group; Steve Herington (Hereford Couriers) aged 70 category and Bryan Markham (Croft Ambrey) aged 80 category.

The Jon Ward 5k race will take place on the same Hereford course on Sunday, August 14.
