HEREFORD FC will face a Cardiff XI team at Edgar Street in a pre-season friendly.

The Bulls will host the Bluebirds on Sunday, July 24, with a 1pm kick-off.

Cardiff last visited Edgar Street for a pre-season friendly in July 2018 running out 3-0 winners.

“The deal with Keenan (Patten) (loan deal last season) we made sure we had a friendly within that deal,” said Gowling.

“I know they are going away on a pre-season tour but the deal was that there will be some first team players in there.

“It will be a half-decent squad that they will come to us with.

“I want it to be nice and competitive. I probably wouldn’t have done it if it was just going to be under-23s to be honest.

“That will be a tasty affair for us so something for people to get their teeth into.”

Speaking about why the game will take place on a Sunday, Gowling said: "We had to accommodate some of the higher graded teams.

"Those are the days they could fit in so we've had to tweak things slightly to accommodate them."

The Bulls will start their pre-season preparations with a trip to Hednesford on Saturday, July 9.
