Head coach Tony Chadwick will send 15 of his boxers from the Harrow Road gym into battle against a Midlands Select team for the Hereford Box Cup.

Chadwick promises “50-50 matches” and an occasion to remember for the city.

Ben Wood will captain the City of Hereford team.

Charlie Sankey is a City of Hereford boxer to look out for.

The 21 year old from Kingsland boxes on the show boosted by what Chadwick called an “awesome” performance in Lydney last month.

The skilled southpaw was a points winner over Patrick Bolingo (St Josephs).

That was Sankey’s second win in three fights since he decided to focus on boxing having previously played rugby for Luctonians.

Luke Powell looks for a second win in front of his home-town crowd and Chadwick looks to match several debutants as well, including Will Marsh.

The boxers on show (pictured) include Sankey, Powell, Wood, Will Marsh, Nathan Wallace, Morgan Price, Jack Awuye-North, Joel Edwards, Tobie Vermerim Flynn Ball, Ray Hau, Jordan Fulbrook, Vinny Jones and Michal Tomzik.

Hereford FC events manager Tilly Page said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity to show Hereford FC as more than a football club.

"Over the jubilee weekend we welcome local food vendors, businesses and the Herefordshire community to Edgar Street.

"We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the sponsors and local businesses who have helped to make this event possible.”
