HEREFORD manager Josh Gowling felt play-off rivals Boston United couldn’t live with his side going forward in their 2-1 victory.

First half goals from Tom Owen-Evans and Ryan McLean took the Bulls to victory and moved them within a point of the play-off places.

“If you lose today there’s a bit of a gap but now we’re a point off the play-offs,” said Gowling.

“It’s pleasing, we knew it was going to be a tough game. They are a good side who are direct at side.

“I just felt if we got the ball down and played we would be successful today and we were. Overall I think we controlled the ball when we played the ball down.

“When, we played quickly and switched play I don’t think they could live with us. We were ruthless with the chances that we had and if Miles (Storey) had put his away that would have been it.”

Danny Elliott did pull a goal back for Boston in the second half, but Gowling was pleased with his side’s defending to complete the win.

“I thought the lads were excellent today, they battled and won the first contact, added Gowling.

“If the ball dropped down we won the second phase which was really pleasing.”
